Digital copiers' initial advantage over analog devices was scan-once-print-many technology, which allows users to make multiple copies of a hard copy document after scanning a document once and helped fuel the rapid growth in this market. In today's office environment, however, most documents are created electronically, which makes a copier's scanning feature far less important. In order to compete with office printers, the next move for digital copier vendors is to increase the connect rate of digital copiers, which will drive page volume.
