Description

In 2008, Lyra conducted a survey in five European countries-France, Italy, Poland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom-to gain a better understanding of printing behavior among users in small and medium-size enterprise (SME) offices located in these regions. The survey profiled office printer technology and investigated user perception regarding ink jet and laser devices. The survey results presented in this report help vendors to find the opportunities within the SME markets in Europe. The report compares survey findings among different countries and company sizes. Survey findings regarding color usage, channel preferences, future purchase intentions, supplies usage, and applications that respondents use are all presented in this PowerPoint-based report.

Approximately 300 people were interviewed in each country for this report from a total of 1,541 offices. Respondents were from micro enterprises (1 to 9 employees), small enterprises (10 to 99 employees), and medium-size enterprises (100+ employees) at specific office locations. The survey participants cover most NACE categories, including agriculture, construction, education, finance, manufacturing, real estate, and retail trade, among others.

The United Kingdom has the largest number of SMEs that cite ink jet as the most frequently employed technology (66 percent). Laser is heavily used in Turkey (74 percent), Italy (73 percent), and Poland (62 percent), while France has the closest balance between laser and ink jet. Fifty-two percent of SMEs in France employ laser and 42 percent use ink jet as their primary print technology.

Fifty figures and charts are included in this report, providing detailed comparisons among the countries surveyed. This study is one in a series of reports covering the five European countries. The following are the other reports in this series:
