Temporary Price Reduction: Was $299, Now $225. Because it accounts for 60 percent of total hard copy industry revenue, the office market is vital for hard copy hardware and supplies vendors. The office environment is hardly an untapped market, however, and its maturity poses a distinct set of challenges to imaging industry players. With hardware sales slumping, vendors are increasingly turning to supplies as their primary profit driver. Lyra projects that worldwide office hardware revenue will grow from just over $42 billion in 2004 to $43 billion in 2008, a CAGR of less than 1 percent. In contrast, worldwide supplies revenue from offices will increase from $48.9 billion in 2004 to $59.3 billion in 2008, a 5 percent CAGR (see figure).
Office Printing: Where Is the Market Heading? Lyra's latest report in the 2005 Imaging Symposium Series, looks at some of the major trends that are driving the office printing market and compares and contrasts opportunities in the hardware and supplies markets. The information in this report can help vendors to develop more cohesive product planning, marketing, and sales strategies.
