Description
Throughout the hard copy hardware industry, product prices are falling, hardware product segments are maturing, and new revenue opportunities are difficult to generate. Multifunction peripherals (MFPs) represent a major upgrade opportunity, especially in small-office/home-office (SOHO) environments, small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), and small workgroups in corporate environments. Recognizing this opportunity, printer vendors are entering the personal monochrome laser MFP market with new, more affordable models. In addition, established copier vendors are moving downstream and offering their own branded personal monochrome laser MFPs. Meanwhile, more vendors are dipping a toe in the water by introducing their first color laser MFPs.
Lyra expects that North American shipments of color laser MFPs will grow at compound annual growth rate of more than 220 percent through 2009 (see figure).
