The average number of pictures taken by digital camera respondents in Japan rose to 44 per month in 2000, up from 26 per month in 1998, according to this new report from Lyra Research. This consumer behavior has a direct impact on film consumption as well: usage of traditional film declines by 27 percent six months after acquiring a digital camera (see chart).
